Literature Text

Created from a dark void,
I'm the mother of Earth.
The primal Greek mother Goddess;
the creator of the Gods,
Giants,
and the Titans.

The consort to Uranus,
the sky.
From which,
Ourea and Pontus was born.

Through Pontus,
the sea deities were created.
The Titans were born;
Cronos the youngest,
and the most terrible of my children.

He came to overthrow his father,
as he married Rhea.
Knowing one day,
that his own fate,
would be the same.

My son at his children,
in fear of being overthrown.
So Rhea came to me,
with her belly ready to pop.

That night I helped her give birth,
to Zeus my grandson.
The one who is destined,
to overthrow Cronos.
To free his siblings,
then aid him,
as they will all overthrow the Titans.

They locked most of them away,
in the dark,
terrible,
pits of Tartarus.
This is a free verse poem I wrote about the Gaia; mother Earth in Greek Mythology. This is my first poem I have written in such a long time that hasn't been a haiku. :happybounce: Clap  So I would love feedback good or bad or just even questions of the mythology Meow :3

Reading this reminds me dearly of my junior high years. In my first year in Social Studies we had to study Greek history and among the stories read was "The Trojan War." Fast forward over a decade later to see Rick Riordan and his series about the Greek and Roman demi gods. This is a superb looking poem.
